Good morning Devonport!

Team Heart of the Shore – Iain Rea, Ruth Jackson, Trish Deans, and Jan O’Connor – out and about today in Devonport. Go team!
We love meeting everyone and keeping our finger on the pulse of what’s going on and what’s on people’s minds.
Of course the hot topic at Devonport wharf is late and cancelled ferries, and buses that arrive too late or leave too soon – often because the ferries aren’t on time or they’ve got stuck in Lake Road’s equally infamous congestion.
There’s a new ferry coming – which Fullers promise will fix the ferry chaos. For everyone’s sake, we hope they’re right – and will be watching closely.
Lake Road is a much longer-term project. Council’s $54 million budget for an upgrade was lost during the last term of Council – and it’s taken years of hard work in this term by the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board to claw back $47 million to upgrade the Belmont-to-Hauraki section.
Plans are now being put together for public consultation, and the upgrade project will undoubtedly occupy a huge chunk of the next local board’s term.
